1. Default IP Address

The default IP address and Subnet mask of an MDU12 unit is:

IP Address:           192.168.100.235

Subnet Mask:      255.255.255.0

2. Configuring the IP Address on the MDU12

The serial port interface can be used to configure the IP address of the unit. Using a RS232 serial to USB cable, connect the MDU to a PC and open a terminal program (i.e. Putty or Hyperterminal). Below is an example for the Putty terminal. Ensure the MDU is turned off during this step.

Ensure the correct com port and Connection type is selected. The speed must be kept at 9600. Once ready, click open.

Once the blank window is prompted, power on the MDU12 and after a short delay the MDU version will be prompted on the terminal, for example:

MDU12-PMi

After a delay the unit will then report:- Ready. Please note this may take up to 5 minutes.

If the 'Ready' string does not prompt in the terminal window, please check your Terminal settings and ensure the MDU is powered on when the terminal window is showing. If the problem still persists, please contact TSL support at support@tslproducts.com.

Once the terminal displays 'Ready' hit the ? key on your keyboard to prompt the MDU settings.

Hit the Enter key to change the settings and when the IP address is prompted, enter the desired IP address, e.g. 192.168.0.1 and press enter to confirm.

This process will also prompt other settings, such as the option to enter a username and a password when accessing the MDU webpages. If you don't wish to change these settings, just hit the Enter key to navigate through all the settings.

Please note, if you want to change any of the settings on the MDU again, you will need to restart the Terminal application.

Once you have navigated through all the settings, the MDU will save the settings and once the message is prompted into the terminal, power cycle your MDU for the changes to take effect.
