When performing a software update on a PAM1 or PAM2 IP, you may encounter one of the following error messages:

'HDI-IP doesn't have a bootloader, this is an error if this is a production unit. Red to proceed'

or

'imeout for the expected response from the HDI-IP card  red to proceed'

This normally occurs as the last step of the update is not successful. Please follow the below instructions to re-perform the last step of the update and let me know the outcome.

First open the firmware update folder you have on the USB you used to update the PAM1-IP and modify the versions.txt file as follows. If this is not available you can load a new update folder (attached) onto a blank FAT32 formatted USB and modify it's versions.txt text file:

- Add stars between the first three update file names, as seen below. This will skip them and head to the last part of the update.

- Save the file and load the USB into the PAM1-IP as performing a normal software update.

- Then Start the PAM1-IP in HDI Bootloader mode like this:
    - Press and hold switch 4+5 on the front panel while applying the power to the unit.
    - Keep on holding the switches until the right hand side display says 'HDI4 started in bootloader mode. Red to proceed.' (Message may not be worded exactly as this but similar).
    - Press the red button to proceed.
    - This will run the update as usual but this time it will only run the HDI4 update.

If the update was successful, it should display the latest version under software version in the front panel interface.
